Battlefield 6 GPU Benchmark : Battlefield 6 is finally here, and after several days of benchmarking thanks to early access, we’ve put the game through an intense GPU workout. We tested 43 different graphics cards across three resolutions (1080p, 1440p, and 4K), two presets (High and Overkill), and included performance scaling with DLSS, FSR, and comparisons of image quality across presets.

TL;DR: It’s visually stunning, surprisingly well-optimized, and scales better than most recent AAA titles.

🔧 Test Setup

To ensure consistency and eliminate multiplayer randomness, we benchmarked the third campaign mission — the most demanding single-player section we found. Here’s the hardware we used:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
  • Motherboard: MSI MPG X870E Carbon WiFi
  • RAM: 32 GB DDR5-6000 (CL30)
  • Storage: TeamGroup T-Force Cardea Z44Q 4TB
  • PSU: Kolink Regulator Gold ATX 3.0 1200W
  • OS: Windows 11 24H2
  • Drivers:
    • Nvidia: GeForce 581.42
    • AMD: Adrenalin 25.9.2
    • Intel: Arc 32.0.101.8136

🖼 Visual Comparison – High vs Overkill vs Low

Despite the name, “Overkill” preset doesn’t give you much more than the High setting. Differences include:

  • Slightly improved shadow fidelity
  • Marginally better lighting and textures
  • Overkill vs High: Extremely close in quality
  • High vs Medium: Minor downgrade, mostly in shadows
  • Low preset: Surprisingly decent. Textures are softer, but the game still looks good

Verdict:

For most players, High delivers 95% of the visual experience of Overkill while saving a ton of performance.

📊 Preset Scaling (1080p @ Native)

We used the GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB and Radeon RX 9060 XT 16 GB to measure preset scaling.

Preset5060 Ti (fps)9060 XT (fps)Lead
Low118108+9%
Medium109101+8%
High~95~85+12%
Ultra8981+10%
Overkill7569+9%

Upscaling Performance (Overkill preset):

  • DLSS / FSR Quality = ~40% boost (GeForce slightly faster)
  • Balanced = +10–14%
  • Performance = +11–12%
  • Ultra Performance = +20%

🔥 GPU Benchmarks by Resolution

1080p – Overkill Preset

  • RTX 5090: 200+ fps
  • RX 9070 vs RTX 5070: 9070 pulls ahead slightly
  • 4060 Ti 8GB vs 16GB: 16 GB is 32% faster in 1% lows
  • Intel Arc B580: 66 fps (playable, but not ideal)

8 GB cards suffer on Overkill due to VRAM limitations. Stuttering and poor 1% lows are common.

1440p – Overkill Preset

  • Top performers: RTX 5090, 4090, 5080
  • 5070 Ti vs 9070 XT: Nearly identical performance
  • RX 9070 > RTX 5070 by ~17%
  • 8 GB cards: Unusable at Overkill due to severe frame time issues

4K – Overkill Preset

  • RTX 5090: 115 fps (beast mode)
  • 7900 GRE: Around 45 fps – same as Borderlands 4 performance
  • 5060 Ti 16 GB: 50 fps – usable with DLSS Balanced
  • 8 GB GPUs: No-go territory

1080p – High Preset

  • Over 200 fps: RTX 5090, 5080, 5070 Ti
  • RX 9070 XT caps at 179 fps, showing possible driver or overhead limitation
  • Older GPUs:
    • RTX 4070, RX 6800 XT = ~130 fps
    • RTX 4060 = 70+ fps
    • RX 6600 = 60+ fps

1440p – High Preset

  • RTX 5090: 200+ fps
  • 5070 Ti and RX 9070 XT: 150 fps
  • RX 9070 = 7% faster than RTX 5070
  • RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB: 94 fps
  • RX 9060 XT 16 GB: 84 fps
  • 8 GB models lose up to 33% of 1% lows, especially on the 4060 Ti

High 1080

4K – High Preset

  • Only the RTX 5090 hits high-refresh at native 4K
  • RTX 4090 = 100+ fps
  • RTX 5080, 5070 Ti, 9070 XT, and 7900 XTX all push 60–90 fps
  • 4070 Super, 6950 XT, RTX 3090 = just above 60 fps
  • DLSS/FSR Quality recommended for smoother gameplay
Ok 2160

🧠 Key Takeaways

  • Battlefield 6 is a unicorn: Visually stunning and well-optimized
  • High preset is the sweet spot: Nearly the same visuals as Overkill, with much better performance
  • VRAM matters: 8 GB GPUs are heavily limited, especially at Overkill or 1440p+
  • DLSS and FSR deliver great performance boosts without major visual compromises
  • Even budget GPUs can handle 1080p with Medium/High presets – RX 6600 and RTX 3060 perform well

💬 Final Thoughts

Whether you’re on an older mid-range card or rocking a next-gen beast, Battlefield 6 offers scalable performance and impressive visuals without demanding outrageous hardware. It’s clear DICE and EA spent time optimizing for PC, and the result is a shooter that runs better than most modern AAA titles.

So unless you’re benchmarking for sport, stick to the High preset. You’ll save frames without missing much eye candy.
